Shuffle on, Babylon

A poem inspired by a Bible study I attended in 2022. It was called Daniel: Lives of Integrity, Words of Prophecy, by Beth Moore.

Sunset over water and tree with light fluffy clouds and blue, pink, yellow, orange, purple colors.

Babylon rose with towers high,

Reaching boldly toward the sky.

Bricks of pride and dreams of fame,

Built to magnify just one name.

Its walls were wide, its gates were grand,

Power rested in its hand.

Yet kingdoms built on wealth and pride,

Can never keep the Lord outside.

Through prophets’ words, a warning came,

No throne outlasts God’s holy name.

The gold will dull, the crowns will fall,

Only His kingdom conquers all.

Choosing selfish ways instead of grace,

Turning from the Father’s face.

So let us build with humble hands,

On rock that forever stands.

Not for glory, wealth or gain,

But for the everlasting Name.
